The module in a nutshell

Well-organized and managed processes are the building blocks of excellence. In this module participants learn to adopt a systems approach to process management and the basic disciplines such as the development of process instructions that accurately reflect the work that is done within the process. SSOW and process design fundamentals are taught.

The aim and outcomes of the module

The aim of this module is to enable the organization to develop processes that are capable, well-organized and operated. After successfully completing this module participants will be able to:

  • understand the objectives of active process management 
  • identify and explain the elements in a process 
  • understand the importance of adopting a systems approach to process management 
  • understand the elements in the control model and their application to active process management. 
  • develop effective process instructions 
  • develop effective process control plans 
  • develop training plans to produce capable operations staff 
  • analyse and implement effective process layout 
  • develop supporting ancillary procedures and systems 
  • identify and implement process improvements

Who Active process management is for

This module is designed to be applicable to members of improvement teams and those responsible for managing projects. It complements the contents of other in the Process Transformation Programme modules that deal with the Deliver faster core objective, equally it can be successfully studied on its own.

The module covers the following topics:

  • the objectives of active process management 
  • adopting a systems approach to process management 
  • the control model and its application 
  • developing effective operations instructions 
  • developing effective process control plans 
  • developing people: producing training plans 
  • SSOW 
  • identifying improvements in process management

Important other information

Duration: Active process management lasts for one day and can be used by itself or in combination with other modules in the Process Transformation Programme.

Location: Ideally a room close to the workplace of participants, though it can be run off-site effectively.

In common with other modules in the Process Transformation Programme the module is designed to run successfully with between 8 to 18 participants.

Price: As a stand-alone module, £2,500 inclusive of all materials. This price does not include expenses which are charged at cost..
