The Module in a nutshell

Companion to Leading transformation, Managing the transformation deals with the nuts and bolts of running a team involved in project-based improvement and managing their effort.

Managing the transformation gives you the organizing skills to manage a team of people who have the common objective of improving a process and to direct the team activity towards successful completion of the project.

The aim and outcomes of Managing the transformation

The overall aim of this module is to provide you with the knowledge and competences to:

  • clearly define the project aims and objectives
  • run improvement project meetings
  • plan activities and milestones
  • delegate activities
  • identify project and process stakeholders
  • handle conflict
  • manage ‘virtual’ teams

Who Managing the transformation is for

Anyone who is acting as an agent of change will benefit from this module: executives and managers embarking on a transitional programme such as continuous improvement through lean or Six Sigma; business improvement agents; team leaders as part of their ‘day job’.

The course can be run in-house for groups of people, as part of the company’s improvement programme and can be focused to incorporate its ethos.

What’s in Managing the transformation?

The programme is both practical and experiential and is based on a “do-review-improve” loop. Delegates also get specific feedback on their strengths and development areas and use this to create a personal development plan. Participants learn how to:

  • run successful transformation team meetings
  • plan and organize the deployment of the change activity
  • monitor performance and take corrective action
  • creating a project charter
  • delegation responsibilities and tasks
  • resolve conflict
  • deal effectively with problems that arise outside the team
  • ‘sell’ the transformation to other stakeholders
